The Aellon team took a trip to Arlberg in the Austrian Alps to get into some Bavarian culture and mountain villages. The Austrians are a deeply happy, hospitable people. But how could you not be happy if you eat Goulash and Apple Strudel every day!
The structures built uphill from the quaint villages are designed to be completely avalanche-proof, so they naturally take on an interesting look. Mostly constructed of reinforced concrete and thick steel these structures surprisingly maintained a subtle brutalist beauty to their purpose-built forms.
We're counting the days until we can get back to the land of lederhosen and avalanches.
